They say that big is beautiful but also that the best things come in small packages; what are we to believe? All FanAppic knows is that the new range of iPad minis are delicate little darlings that need to be wrapped up safe and shielded from the big bad world, which is why we’ve compiled a list of the best iPad Mini cases on the market. Please take care of Apple’s new offspring!
1. Leather Style iPad mini Case with Aluminium Lining
It’s always a bit of a danger when you go for a leather case as although it may feel pleasant, you’re always a little concerned about whether it’s going to offer enough protection. However, this is not a problem that Proporta’s offering suffers from, as its handcrafted faux-leather interior is soft to touch but it actually lined with aluminium meaning that it gives more ‘bounce for your buck’.
You’ll also notice that it contains a pocket for cards (yes, some people still pass them around from time to time) and cash (yes, some people sometimes even pay for stuff with real money now and again) and you’ll never have to remove the iPad mini from its encasing as you can access all of its features and ports through strategically placed slots…cunning like a fox!
With Skyfall hitting our screens this month, everybody’s favourite secret agent is back and donning his trademark suave tuxedo; if you want to emulate James Bond then kit your iPad mini out with this ultra-slim, portfolio style case which will make your device look super stylish.
It doubles as a stand, with folding panels that easily flip and bend to prop the iPad mini up at various angles and a soft touch, textured material will protect it from bullets, knives and bad guys throwing steel-rimmed bowler hats (we think).
This one is a real doozy; the Swivel 360 will let you watch your iPad mini from any angle that is known to man (well, horizontal and vertical anyway), as it flicks around and lets you mount your screen in the portrait and landscape positions.
The faux-leather case is a nice touch as it looks fairly elegant whilst protecting the device from buffs and scuffs.
4. Apple iPad Mini Silicone Over Hard Case w/ Vertical Stand – Black/ Red
Sometimes you just want a bit of extra protection and if you want to tool up your iPad mini with a tough case that looks the business then look no further. With a stylish red finish, the silicone material is not only very durable but it also resists moisture so you don’t have to worry if a car splashes a puddle over you (Tip: If this does happen and you’re worried about your device being affected, pop it in a bag of rice near a radiator and it will suck the moisture out…trust me).
With a two-layer design, this case offers maximum protection with the silicone element stretches over the harder casing, giving you a pleasant handgrip as well as a resilient shell.
5. Apple iPad Mini Crystal Silicone Case – Argyle Hot Pink
Don’t be put off by the colour if you find this case a little garish; this ‘Argyle Hot Pink’ iPad mini case also comes in other finishes, I just thought that this one was the most eye-catching! This durable silicone case offers a decent amount of protection as well as a pleasant, crystal clear sheen that is pleasing to the eye and tough to the grip.
This one is for all of you guys and gals who like a thin case around their devices; sure, they may not offer as much protection as a bulky case, but it means that you can slide your iPad mini in and out of your pocket with ease…
With a foldable cover that opens up to allow you to view your device from several different angles, The Merge case boasts a fashionable, sleek design that offers fairly decent protection considering its slim design; it certainly isn’t the cheapest cases there, but it is one of the coolest.
The Script case is a solid and reliable cases that features a snap-in frame that folds out to let you view the iPad mini’s screen in a landscape position; there’s nothing majorly fancy about this case, but it offers decent protection and has a pleasant grip designed on its cover.
Looks can be deceiving and this is never more true than with the Bold Standby Case for the iPad mini; on the surface of it, the case seems like a fairls simple and straight-forward case, yet when you flip out the flaps (try saying that ten times fast!), you’ll see that it packs a lot of functionality. The all-around pocket and Velcro flap will hold the case securely in position with the option to prop it up as a viewing stand should you want to watch a movie.
The outside finish consists of a durable synthetic leather and boasts a soft interior that will protect the screen from scratches; with this case, you’ll know that your iPad mini is protected from all angles, all of the time.
Similar to its sister Bold Standby case, the Ridge Standby packs a lot of functionality into its small size; with a unique design that allows you to view the iPad mini from six separate horizontal and vertical viewing options, this one really is a versatile accessory as well as a durable case.
The Velcro strap allows you to adjust the viewing mode as well as locking your iPad mini securely in position during transit or rest periods; I particularly like that fact that you can carry the device ‘cover-free’ with it just attached to the slim pocket.
Calling all G.I. Joes and Janes, this one’s for you; with a ‘military-grade’ toughness, the Tough Xtreme promises to protect your iPad mini from all of the world’s dangers (bombs, tanks, missiles and the like…).
With a three-layer design, the soft exterior is wrapped around a hard skeletal structure, fused together with an impact-absorbing interior that could stop a bullet (if that bullet is made of plastic and thrown gently at the device). I really like the built-in screen protector that means that you can take off every day knowing that your favourite device is safe and sound.
