Today's roundup is presented by AccuBattery from Digibites. Barring any accidents, the battery is the part of your phone that generally wears out the fastest, so it pays to keep an eye on its health. AccuBattery tests your battery's effective capacity in milliamp-hours to see if it's deteriorated, including tools for live reporting and battery life projections. The Battery Alarm feature tells users when to stop charging to make the usable life of your phone even longer. The app is free, but for a limited time an upgrade to pro (with no ads, more historical data, and even more detailed battery info) is just $2.99.
AccuBattery is the only battery app that measure your battery capacity (mAh) in your device and help you to protect your battery health. Batteries only have a limited amount of charging cycles. Every time you charge your device, it wears out your battery capacity. Scientific research shows that battery life can be extended by 200%, when you charge your device to only 80%. AccuBattery measures the actual battery usage via the battery charge controller during the time an app is in the foreground. Android calculates battery usage using profiles that device manufacturers provide, like how much power the CPU uses, but in practice, these numbers are highly inaccurate.
- Measure real battery capacity in mAh
- Use the battery charge alarm to prolong battery health
- See how much wear the battery sustains with each charge session
- Look up the discharge speed and battery consumption per app
- See how long it takes before your battery is charged (remaining charge time)
- See when you will run out of battery (remaining battery time)
- Screen on or screen off estimations
- percentage of deep sleep when the device is in standby mode
- Ongoing notification for quick access to real time battery statistics
- Real time CPU and battery usage overlay for spotting battery draining processes.
- Access to historical data of more than 1 day.
- Detailed battery statistics in notification
- No ads
Dropbox, I see you looking over at Google Keep and Evernote, salivating at all those users just waiting for a little competition. Paper, which is currently in beta on Android and the web, is just that: a notation app. Dropbox is hoping that a focus on easy searching and team collaboration, including the ability to live edit documents among multiple users, will give it an edge. The beta app requires users to sign up on the web first, but there's no quota or ticket system.
Dropbox Paper helps fast-moving teams work together on docs, find important information, and stay in sync – even while on the go. Any updates, changes, or feedback you give will all be synced with your docs on paper.dropbox.com. Use Dropbox Paper as a collaboration tool with your teams and for document management. See all your notifications -- comments, shares, and @mentions -- in one organized list. Add, view, and reply to comments so you can have a conversation on the go.
Quidgets is an interesting little app that lets users hide homescreen widgets as Quick Settings tiles. This doesn't seem all that useful in and of itself, but consider: it means you can open up a handy widget in any app, without needing to run back to the homescreen. The initial version only works with Android 7.0 or later, and at the moment the user interface could use a little work, but the app shows promise.
Quidgets allows you to insert full-fledged widgets into your Quick Settings drawer on Android Nougat and above. Simply hit "Edit", drag the tile into the Quick Settings drawer, and tap it to set it up. It's that easy.
The theme of this roundup is "put everything in the Quick Settings menu," at least if you happen to be using Android 7.0. This tool allows users to hide a weather information tile, complete with a theme-matching doodle, up there in the notification bar. There aren't many options aside from temperature units and refresh rate, but for basic info that doesn't clutter up the homescreen, it works well enough.
This app let's you add a small Weather Tile to your Quick Settings Bar on Android Nougat. The text shows you the current temperature while a small icon displays one of 12 different weather conditions. Clicking the tile will update the weather data while double tapping will open up a dialog. You can configure the widget by double tapping it and change, whether you want to use Celsius or Fahrenheit, if there should be a small weather description and how often it should refresh automatically.
The hook to OneView Calendar is that it's a calendar app with just one view. Let me know if I'm going too fast for you. OneView does away with day, week, month, and agenda screens, and instead puts everything on a single progressive view that users can zoom in and out of. It works well thanks to an intelligent interface that smoothly expands and contracts as needed. At the moment only Google Calendar accounts are supported, but there's a web version as well.
A clear and zoomable calendar app for everybody. OneView Calendar is a new innovative calendar app. You can use it alongside or instead of your standard calendar. OneView Calendar doesn't have a day view, week view, month view or an agenda view instead it replaces all of these views with one single view designed to perfection.
Zooming with your fingers to see anything from decades to minutes.
Scroll quickly by swiping up and down on the screen.
A.I. positions events perfectly what ever period of time you are looking at.
Add events by dragging and dropping directly on the calendar.
A web version exists enabling you to quickly access your calendar from any device.
Apparently Syfy, an American cable network for fans of science fiction and bad spelling, didn't have an official streaming video app on Android before now. Here it is. It has the usual stuff, including streaming episodes, clips, and a little extra content for fans of the various original shows on the network. Like all of these kinds of apps, you'll need a cable or satellite login to access it.
Syfy Now is your destination for full episodes of your favorite Syfy shows, including new episodes available the day after they air for most programs. Once you open the app, log in with your television or satellite provider account to gain access to the currently available episodes.
See that SyFy app up there? This is the same thing, but for Bravo. It's an American channel that shows ten different flavors of The Real Housewives of [insert place here], and a few actual TV shows when they get bored. It also needs a cable login.
Bravo Now is your go-to destination to watch full episodes of your favorite Bravo shows. New episodes are available the day after they air on television and previously aired episodes are available for select shows. Just log in with your personal television provider’s account information and enjoy Bravo shows on the go—anywhere you are.
Scan & Go is basically the same thing as a self-service checkout line... without the line. Users of the app can scan in their shopping items as they go along, pay with a credit card right in the app, then walk out of the Sam's Club store without spending a single second in line. You'll need to check your receipt at the door, and there seems to be a problem with the app's location authentication system, but it's a very cool idea nonetheless.
Shop & scan, pay & go – that’s it. Save time by scanning your items while you shop. You’ll see a running total as you add items, so you know what’s in your cart. Then you just check out and pay with the app, and your receipt appears on your phone. Show the receipt to the exit greeter and you are out the door – no long checkout lines. How Scan & Go works:
1. While you are in the club, open the app and scan each item’s barcode. No barcode? You can look up an item quickly.
2. As you shop, you’ll see the running total of the items in your cart.
3. Check out and pay in the app.
4. Show the receipt from your phone on the way out.

Have you seen those screenshots of a long text message session that stitch together multiple phone screens for easy viewing? If you've seen them on iOS, you've probably seen the work of the Stitch It app. There have been a few imitators on the Play Store already, but here's the real McCoy. It doesn't really matter which chat service you use with it, but it's designed for the likes of WhatsApp, mostly for sharing on social networks.
We've finally launched on Android, after building a base of about 400,000 users on the iOS platform. Stitch It. allows you to create one seamless image of a text message conversation so that you can share it via WhatsApp, email, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr, or anywhere else in the series of tubes that is the webernet machine.
CAD (that's computer-aided design, for those of you who haven't been to an engineering department lately) doesn't make a lot of sense on mobile platforms, but if you're determined to try it, Corel would like to talk to you. This app is primarily a viewer and ties into cloud storage for easy retrieval, but minimal annotations and small modifications to files are possible on the go. You'll need to get the corresponding Corel desktop software to make the most of it.
Design and annotate on the go with CorelCAD™ Mobile, the latest tablet and smartphone version of CorelCAD that complements the existing Windows PC and Mac platforms. Benefit from a full set of 2D drawing, editing and 3D viewing tools, unique annotation capabilities and connectivity to cloud storage services like Dropbox and Google Drive. Best of all, it’s instantly accessible in an intuitive mobile app user experience.
Today's American political landscape basically looks like a black-and-white photo with the contrast turned up to the maximum. But if you prefer a political position that isn't more polarized than a magnet, this app is designed to gauge your politics and make recommendations based on candidates that share your views. It might help a lot more for local elections, where your choices aren't restricted to one of two very nearly equally detestable alleged humans.
Answer a few simple questions and find out which politicians truly have your best interests at heart, and have a track record to back it up. It’s like online dating, for politics. We analyze mountains of data, including public stances, voting records, speeches, and more, to make sure your matches are accurate. Because everyone deserves to have confidence in their vote. Voter is making it fast, fun, and easy to vote confidently. Instead of looking for who to support, find out who supports you.
FeedNews is a fairly standard news app - choose your favorite categories, swipe left and right, and read to your heart's content. The hook comes from the "AI" suggestion engine that learns your taste, and also integration with Twitter's API, which prioritizes the stories that your friends are reading and sharing. The interface is clean, if not particularly innovative, and there's an offline reading mode as well.
Drowning in information, but starved for knowledge? FeedNews is a news digest app with AI and social curation specially tailored for you. With our recommendation engine and social news aggregator, FeedNews lets you stay on top of things that matter to you. Easy to read on a daily basis so you're always up-to-date and never feel FoMO again. Spend less time searching for news and more time enjoying it.
VOLO is a travel journal for those who fancy themselves a modern William F. Buckley. Essentially it's a series of text boxes matched up with GPS coordinates, a map location, and some photos, plus an integrated social network. The latter allows writers to share their posts in the usual locations, and encourages people to "co-author" posts when they're travelling together. It's interesting, but nothing that you couldn't duplicate with a regular text editor.
Starting with preparations to when you're on the plane, when you see the most amazing views, and even after you come back home. Keep your experiences and moments alive with words and photos, mark destinations that you want to remember - all offline. You can co-author a story with whoever you're traveling with to create a truly unique story. Every moment happens only once in your life. Keep your memories alive with VOLO.
If you use the Kodi media center on Android TV (or just an Android-powered device that's always accessible remotely), this tool will let you start the app from your phone. It's handy if Kodi is all you use that device for, and you'd rather not use a full remote access tool just for that rather simple operation. Yatse Remote Starter also has a function that exits the SHIELD TV's standby mode.
Start Kodi remotely on your Android TV or Android box from Yatse
Start Kodi (even custom builds)
Bring Kodi to front
Exit NVIDIA Shield standby mode
All directly from Yatse on your Android TV or compatible Android box.
This application is only made for always powered on devices, like Android TV, Android boxes. Do not install or activate on a phone / tablet as it would empty your battery really fast.
"Let's go to the movie theater - I can't wait to see the new feature presentation from Sony Pictures!" said no one ever. But if for some reason you'd like to see a bunch of trailers for classic and upcoming movies in Sony's catalog, and you don't understand how YouTube works, this app might be handy for you.
Presenting the Sony Movie Channel App – the official application of Sony Movie Channel that allows you to watch the best of action, Western, crime, and comedy movies. Sony Movie Channel offers a wide variety of titles, uncensored and in HD to bring viewers a high energy, unapologetically entertaining movie experience.
• Watch our trailer to learn what’s on this month
• Log on with your provider for the ability to watch full length on-demand movies anywhere, anytime
• New movies uploaded every month
Rounding out our trio of streaming apps is one from E! Now, which as far as I understand it is basically the televised equivalent of People Magazine. Like the other NBC-Universal apps above, it requires a cable or satellite login.
Want to watch your favorite E. shows anywhere at any time? E. Now is the app to do just that. Once you open the app, log in with your cable or satellite provider account to get the most out of E. Now and to gain access to full episodes of your favorite E. programming.
This is a chat app made by Disney. I suppose that since it includes content from The Disney Channel, Radio Disney and the like, it's supposed to be especially friendly to kids. But I can't see any modern kid with a smartphone using this over Facebook or WhatsApp or just old-fashioned text messages. It includes branded stickers (because everything has to have stickers) and alleged "memes," but that's a pretty low bar.
Chat, share, and play like never before. Disney Mix is a social messaging app where friends can chat, share, and play in a whole new way. Get creative and express yourself using some favorite Disney and Pixar characters like Flash from Zootopia, Hank from Finding Dory, Jenny from Adventures in Babysitting, Danny from Future-Worm., and more. Add Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Movies to your Friends List and receive the latest videos and photos directly from them.
If you've bought the Moto Z, then I have to wonder why. But if you've got one and you also spent an extra three hundred dollars on the add-on pico projector, then here's the app that will manage it. Basically it mirrors your phone's screen for projection onto a handy wall, and not much else. Hey, it does what it says on the box, right?
The Moto Mods Projector app allows you to easily control the brightness and keystone correction of your Moto Insta-Share Projector.
This app is a more general tool for the branded Moto Mods, at least those that don't require a lot of software interaction, like battery packs and speaker boosters. At the moment the projector, speaker, and battery pack are the only options (aside from the "style shells"), but this app should be updated when (if?) any more make it to market.
Moto Mods™ Manager app allows you to control and interact with your Moto Mods™. It seamlessly integrates into Android for a simple and intuitive experience.
Check battery status of your Moto Mods™
Receive software updates for your Moto Mods™
Change Moto Mods™ settings
Learn more about Moto Mods™
Get help with your Moto Mods™
Here's another one of those phone-to-phone personal information transfer apps, this time from Huawei. It's pretty much the same as all the others, but instead of using a local network or some kind of Internet connection, it's a direct transfer with the use of a local hotspot on the Huawei phone. Also the name rhymes, which demonstrates more marketing acumen than I had previously expected from Huawei.
Free to use, completely wireless, easy four-step-migration & ultra-fast speed using local hotspot. Transfer contacts, messages, photos, videos, music & apps from your old Android to your new Huawei Smartphone. Transfer contacts, photos & videos from your iPhone to your new Huawei Smartphone. Even more transfer capabilities from Huawei to Huawei Smartphones: Transfer contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps & app data, settings, alarms, memos, browser bookmarks & phone layout
