Unlocking a bootloader is kind of a big deal around here. After the drama that surrounded the unlocking of the Verizon Galaxy S III bootloader, the resultant happiness was more than enough motivation for other developers to get it done as well. For many HTC devices, the current tool for unlocking bootloaders is the now famous Juopunutbear S-Off method. Unfortunately many HTC updates also bring with them new HBoots, which are no longer compatible with Juopunutbear.
However, XDA Senior Member vinylfreak89 has released a tool for unlocking the 2.27 HBoot of the HTC Rezound. The method used is the same as the Juopunutbear, and vinylfreak89 has openly stated that it will be taken down when Juopunutbear is updated to work with the 2.27 HBoot. It is still a very nice hack for those who want S-Off on the latest HBoot at this very minute.
Thus far despite some initial doubt, users have reported success in using this, and no one has reported any issues. Given that it uses similar methods to Juopunutbear, it’s very likely that Juopunutbear itself will receive an official update to 2.27 HBoot. Until then, though, there is still a way.
