It’s actually surprising this game didn’t make more of a wave, given that it came from Playdead and was a sort of indirect follow-up to Limbo, which was a wildly popular (and excellent) game. Playdead has a similarly dim, foreboding aesthetic, and puts you in control of a young boy trying to make his way through a zombie-controlled dystopia. It’s a very unsettling game at times, but in a thoroughly entertaining way, substituting a creeping sense of doom for the more typical jumpiness and open scare tactics of other zombie games.
