Yesterday, a slide from China Mobile suggested that the Galaxy S7 will launch in March. Now a new report that references the same slide suggests that Apple’s new and oft-rumored 4-inch iPhone 6c may launch just a month later.
The 4-inch iPhone, which earlier reports have suggested will be called the iPhone 6c, is hardly a secret at this point. It seems that most folks close to Apple’s supply chain are convinced that Apple is going to release a smaller iPhone with some of the powerful components also offered in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, like an A9 processor.
Today’s report from MyDrivers, as we noted above, references the same China Mobile slide as the Galaxy S7 rumor on Monday, but points to a different section that appears to suggest an April launch for the new iPhone. The site suggests it might be called the iPhone 7c.
That’s where things are confusing from our point of view. It seems most likely that Apple will dub the phone the iPhone 6c, since it will launch before Apple’s expected upgrade of its current devices sometime in September. In other words, it doesn’t make much sense to sell an iPhone 7c before the iPhone 7 and the assumed iPhone 7 Plus are even announced. Perhaps China Mobile is merely speculating at this point, referring to the same reports and rumors that pundits also often cite. Rumor has it the phone may look rather similar to the iPhone 5s:
