Apple made some bold claims during the iPad 4 announcement last week. They claimed the 4th generation iPad to be twice as fast as the 3rd generation. Now a report on Geekbench actually confirms Apple’s bold claims, making the 4th generation iPad the best performing mobile device by Apple.
The 4th generation iPad (iPad3,4) is powered by Apple’s new A6X processor, which has eaten a quad-core GPU and a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.4GHz. For comparison, the 3rd generation iPad had a tri-core GPU, and a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.0GHz. The iPhone 5′s A6 dual-core processor is clocked at 1.3GHz. The total amount of RAM remains at 1GB, which is the same as on the 3rd generation iPad and iPhone 5.
