Maybe it's because April 1st always seems to sneak up on us after a long winter, but I recall often forgetting what the first day of April brings - and I'm not referring to the "April Showers, May Flowers" business; I'm referring to April Fools Day.
While I was often on the receiving end of clever jokes, this year, I'm determined to address the day and catch my friends unexpectedly with the help of my iOS products. If you don't already know, there really is an app for just about anything and there is tons of fun to be had, regardless of your age this April Fools.
This year, we’ve decided to round up our favorite apps that are fun to be used on April Fools, but feel free to continue using them well past Tuesday.
Fool your friends by sending custom fortune cookies with a very special, slightly evil, customized misfortune. Not that we’d ever actually wish any harm on those we care about, or encourage you to, but a little teasing goes a long way, we think. Freak them out by writing specific details or with a little jab that someone thinks they're very special...even if that someone is their mom. Send a different type of greeting for every person in your life, and bring a little humour to their day.
Ghost Scary is best for the friends who are weak at heart and any sound sets them off thinking they’re in the twilight zone. Hide your phone (or their’s after they’ve gone to sleep) under their bed and freak them out, for hours on end.
This app can give off creepy footstep sounds and you even have the ability to recreate irritating sound effects if you really want to drive people completely nuts. Set a timer and watch the screen fade to normal view, which will have your targets searching for the source of the noise for however long you wish to drive them up the walls. I personally think this app is best used when you’re out of the house! Picture their face when you return from running some errands. That's funny, in and of itself.
This out of control, creepy app was voted one of the most terrifying in the iTunes Store, and honestly, I completely agree. The concept is simple: hand your device over to your friend to "play" a challenging game. In the midst of them reading the instructions, a video in HD resolution with sound, containing a creepy image will jump out. It'll be completely unexpected and your friend will most definitely jump (and likely drop your phone, so watch out of that). It's entertaining and funny - just like April Fools is meant to be.
Scare-ify HD: Scary Prank Your Friends is available in the Snap Ghost
Take a photo of your lovely friends and watch them get thoroughly creeped out when a ghost appears in their photo with Snap Ghost. iYou can add up to a dozen effects and play around with the images from new or existing photo’s and laugh at reactions when they see a ghost hanging above their head. Move your fingers to improve the realism of the ghost photos by tapping to the previous or next ghost or rotating the ghost for a better position. This app is hilarious and as realistic as you can get for a ghost. After you use it for April Fools, save it for Halloween!
SpoofCard is your calling card to a classic prank call, updated for the 21st Century. Back in the day, when you were huddled around with three of your closest friends doing your best impersonation, the person on the other end figured out within a couple of minutes, if not seconds, who was actually calling. You can now make up for those sorta sad attempts with the ultimate spoof by using this app. This is a fun way to change your voice and add some background noise to really fool the friend on the other end of the line. What message you deliver is totally up to you, but I recommend delivering the news that they're the recent winners of the lottery or that the boat they've recently purchased is ready for pick up!
