For many of us, our minds are still on a beach somewhere and it’s tough to make the mental switch back to the pressures of the office. The trick is to combine fun with mental exercises in short bursts so that we don’t end up exhausted, and have enough energy to take on the working week.
With that in mind, we want to highlight some of our favorite brain-training apps. What are you waiting for?
Luminosity is an extremely popular brain-training app to challenge your brain with. The exercises have been designed by scientists, resulting in something both innovative and effective. The app converts classic exercises into engaging cognitive games.
After working out your level, the app will present you with an extensive daily training program. You’ll even find yourself up against other users the same age as you to keep you on your toes. All in all, this is an exceptional app with a interactive design and highly professional look.
Memorado is another app that you can use on a daily basis to keep that brain stimulated. The app offers mental training based on neuroplasticity through the use of fun games.
Memorado will first ask you what skills you value the most (memory, speed, concentration), before creating a personalized plan just for you. It’s also possible to compete against friends and other users around the world, gaining sought-after ‘brain points’ as you do.
Foxy Bird is one of our favorite memory games. If you consider yourself a memory expert, this app is for you; trust us, it’ll drive you crazy. At first, everything seems pretty easy: follow the bird as it leaps from block to block and repeat the sequence.
As the game progresses, however, the bird moves quicker and quicker, whilst the ice blocks begin to move across the screen. Foxy Bird is a gem; the controls are smooth, the gameplay is very entertaining, and it’s a great way to practise your memory. What’s more, the colorful graphics are of the highest quality.
Logic games are the perfect way to kill time; they’re addictive and they help keep your brain alert. Simbolly has two different game modes: the normal training mode, or the challenge mode in which you can compete against your friends.
Will you manage to decipher the secret code? Remember that you need to do so in the fewest number of moves possible, so be prepared for plenty of concentration and logical deduction.
Clockwork Brain Training is another app we’d wholeheartedly recommend. It’s an educational game in which you need to use memory, arithmetic, and logic in different exercises with a set time limit.
Clockwork Brain Training stands out due to its carefully-designed graphics; something you wouldn’t necessarily expect from a brain-training game. You can check your progress thanks to the statistics that are logged for each one of the skills tested.
For those who want to put their Maths skills into practice, Number Chef is an innovative game that fulfills its function well: it’s both fun and hard to beat. Take the customers' orders and work out how much they each owe.
The rules are as follows: drag any number over an odd number to add, and drag any number over an even number to subtract. Appealing, right? It comes with some excellent graphics and more than a hundred levels that’ll make you tear your hair out, but keep you hooked at the same time.
