Although nothing has been decided yet, Finnish developer Remedy Entertainment is currently speaking with Microsoft about the possibility of bringing 2010's psychological thriller Alan Wake to Xbox One.
"I would love that to happen," Remedy creative director Sam Lake said in an interview with Polygon. "Nothing has happened yet, but we are discussing this possibility with Microsoft. I hope it happens, we'll see."
If Alan Wake were to come to Xbox One, it would also likely include the game's 2012 follow-up, American Nightmare, Lake added.
Asked if Remedy, which owns the rights to Alan Wake, would consider bringing a possible remastered port to PlayStation 4 or Wii U, Lake replied, "Highly unlikely."
Now, Lake has teased that Alan Wake 2--should it ever come to frution--could see a multiplatform release. While the original game was only released for Xbox and PC, a possible sequel could end up on whatever platforms that make the most sense.
"When it comes to sequels it's our thing, we can do whatever makes sense and what's best for the franchise overall," Lake said.
"But obviously it depends on many different things. I think that regardless of the platform, a good sequel--while it continues the story of the original one--it's still something that someone who hasn't played the original one can enjoy and jump on board and dive into the setting and the world and enjoy themselves."
