Alcatel on Thursday announced that customers will soon be able to order its new smartphone, the Idol 3, which will ship next month. Pre-orders will kick off on April 21.
We first had a chance to see the Idol 3 during Mobile World Congress. It’s an impressive smartphone for its price, and reminds us a bit of the OnePlus One in that sense. You’ll find a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, a 13-megapixel camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle front-facing shooter, 16GB of expandable storage, 2GB of RAM and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box. Better yet, it’s SIM unlocked, so you won’t be strapped in to a carrier.
That’s pretty solid hardware for a device that will be offered for just $249. Alcatel has said it will be available directly through its website and through other online retailers, such as Amazon.
