Over two thirds of the Earth is covered by ocean that can be more than 6 miles deep leading to over 95% of the ocean unexplored. Amazing World Ocean is a new educational app that is all about life under the sea. The app revolves around a scrolling interface allowing you to dive deeper into the sea to uncover the various species included. Amazing World Ocean is like an interactive encyclopedia with over 50 species detailed with background, facts, figures, gallery photos, and 3D views.
There’s so much to dive into beginning with schools of fish, and leading down through coral reefs, whales, sharks, and deep sea fish. You simply tap on any one of the species of aquatic life to bring up the in-depth details page. Every species page includes a habitat map, size comparison to humans, scrolling facts, interactive 3D model, photo gallery, stats, and an audio narration. You can get lost delving into all of the information included, and it’s presented in a way to keep you exploring. All of the information is also presented with a high quality design style highlighted by the picturesque scrolling menu through the layers of the sea.
It’s rare to find an interactive underwater encyclopedia for $5, but that’s exactly what you get with Amazing World Ocean. The app brings new life to aquatic life since there are so many details to uncover through a touch friendly form. Everything is presented in an accessible manner to appeal to a wide variety of ages. The details are also memorable, so that you will want to share them. The only real drawback is that the app leaves you wanting more species covered, and more details with the included species. Also, it would be nice if the scrolling menu indicated the realistic depths at which these animals live, as the included sort is more based on species than living depth.
Amazing World Ocean ($4.99. Universal) is an excellent journey under the sea making it well worth picking up.
