Amazon has reduced the price of its Kindle Paperwhite e-reader in Japan just two weeks after the device went on sale in the country. The first round of orders has not even shipped yet; the device is still only available for pre-order.
The price of the Kindle Paperwhite (Wi-Fi) only has dropped approximately 6% from 8,480 yen ($106.19) to 7,980 yen (about $99.92) to match the price of Rakuten's Kobo Glo, which was reduced to 7,980 yen late last week. The Japanese retail giant also cut the price of its Kobo Mini as well as its Kobo Touch e-readers by more than 10%. Sony lowered the price of its most basic e-reader to 7,980 yen earlier this year as well.
