NEWARK and SEATTLE, USA – Amazon has introduced a couple of new devices belonging to Kindle Fire HD family, Kindle PaperWhite e-reader, the latest generation Kindle e-reader and several new features accompanying them.
Joining the Kindle Fire family are three new tablets, a 7-inch Kindle Fire HD, an 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD and a latest generation Kindle Fire.
The 7-inch Fire HD comes with either 16GB or 32GB of storage and features dual-band Wi-Fi, high-performance processor and graphic engine, Bluetooth, HDMI, front camera, exclusive HD audio with two stereo speakers and Dolby Digital Plus, besides an efficient battery that allows over 11hours of usage.
It provides access to millions of movies, music, apps, books, audiobooks and magazines. The tablet can be pre-ordered for $199, with shipment to begin from September 14th.
The 8.9-inch Fire HD has two models, one with 4G LTE Network and the other without it. The 4G LTE Fire HD comes with 32/64 GB of storage while the non-4G LTE has 16/32 GB. The 4G LTE variant supports all 10 bands. They feature all the high-end specs of the 7-inch tablet, although they are powered by the latest generation OMAP4 4470 chipset with Imagination SGX544 graphics engine.
The two tablets are available on pre-order with the first shipment scheduled to take place on November 20th. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch's price starts at $299 where as the 4G LTE version price starts at $499.
In addition, the latest generation Kindle Fire is now being offered at $159 on pre-order with a faster chipset, double the memory and all the new features exclusive to Kindle Fire family.
Talking about the Kindle e-readers, the PaperWhite is the fifth generation Kindle e-reader with a free 3G and Wi-Fi version too. It is designed for clearest and crispest reading experience both in light and dark. The battery time is about 8 weeks of usefulness. The simple version is priced at $199 while the Wi-Fi+3G version at $179 for pre-order. The shipments will kickoff on October 1st.
The new latest generation 6-inch Kindle is now priced at $69 with improved fonts and some additional features. Its shipment has already begun.
Coming to the new features that will be integrated in all the Kindle devices are Xray for Books, Xray for Movies, Xray for Textbooks, Immersion Reading, WhisperSync for Voice, Whispersync for Games, and Kindle FreeTime.
Immersion Reading features allows a reader to read with two senses - sound and sight, for effective learning. As a user reads a text, it is highlighted and narrated by professional voice that gives an immersed reading experience.
Xray for Books allows a reader to view all the passages across the book that discuss ideas, characters and places that interest them. While Xray for Movies allows a user to look up for biography, movies, photos for any actor that is on the screen, without leaving the movie.
Kindle FreeTime is a parental control tool. It provides parents with necessary options to select what their kids see and use on the device and for how long.
