The Android 4.4 update is scheduled to make its way to HTC’s 2013 flagships like the One and the One Max. However, the company’s 2012 flagship, the One X, is yet to receive the update. The smartphone is stuck with Android 4.3 for the time being, but it is now being said that the American variant of the smartphone might have some hopes of getting the KitKat update. Sadly, the global variants of the smartphone might never get the update as they feature the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset, while the American variant packs a Qualcomm made chipset with support for LTE.
This information was given away during the company’s AMAA session on Reddit yesterday where several customers asked questions regarding the fate of certain HTC smartphones. The company also gave out reassuring news to owners of future HTC flagships with the promise of all Android updates for the next two years.
There is no word on when exactly the American One X will get the update, but it’s certainly on the cards, so we should expect a word from the manufacturer soon.
