Beginning today, AT&T customers with a Samsung Galaxy Express™ will be able to update their phones to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
The latest version of Android software, Jelly Bean makes your smartphone easier to use through several enhancements, including changes to the notification display which now groups updates from the same application together and allows you to expand or collapse any notification. Customers will also be able to view the full text of an SMS message and the full photo of a MMS in the notification window. Additionally, event notifications display more of the event description to let you quickly see relevant details without having to open the app.
The Jelly Bean update also gives customers access to Google Now™ for the right information at the right time, like the weather, how much traffic to expect before you leave for work or your favorite team’s score. Customers will also notice the addition of Easy Mode, which offers a simplified experience option for first-time smartphone users with large home screen widgets focused on the essential actions most people perform with their phones, including contacts, clock and alarm, favorite contacts and favorite apps.
The Jelly Bean update also provides Blocking Mode, which lets you disable incoming calls, notifications, alarms and LED indicators for a designated period of time. When you’re ready to use your phone again, you’ll find that keeping up with your social networks is even easier than before with a newly added ticker that scrolls along the bottom of the lock screen displaying the latest news from your social media feeds.
To help customers better manage their data consumption, the Jelly Bean update adds a data usage calculator that allows you to set a limit on your data usage each month.
Customers will receive a notification when the update is available on their Express, along with instructions for how to download the update. Alternatively, you can access the update while connected to Wi-Fi by tapping Applications > Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates and following the prompts.
We’re looking forward to rolling out Jelly Bean on more devices in the coming months, so stay tuned!
