The 2014 Moto X is all set to get the Android 5.1 update as we all know. It now seems like Motorola will also send out the update to the recently launched budget handset, the 2015 Moto E. The company has just issued release notes for the update, telling the users what to expect. The smartphone was launched with Android 5.0 out of the box, so an update to Android 5.1 was always on the cards.
Most of the changes that Motorola will introduce are stock Android based upgrades, so you won’t find anything that we haven’t seen on Nexus devices before. Motorola mentions that the update changes the software version to 23.11.15, so make a note of that if you’re expecting an update.
As the release notes have been issued, the update should start rolling out over the coming days, so you probably won’t see the OTA notification right away on your 2015 Moto E. It’s good to see Motorola eager enough to roll out new updates to its budget handset while other manufacturers are still waiting to issue the Lollipop update to their mainstream devices.
