If you thought the app economy was already booming, then you ain’t seen nothing yet. New research from In-Stat indicates that by 2015 the Android Market, Apple App Store and their various rivals will generate more than $29 billion in revenue.
In total, that’s around 48 billion app downloads or, as Rovio will no doubt be thinking, a hell of a lot of Angry Birds users.
“The number of apps available has exploded, which has sparked an increasing rate of downloads,” explained In-Stat analyst Amy Cravens. At present, the Android Market offers more than 200,000 apps for download while Apple’s three-year-old App Store contains more than 425,000 apps.
