Android is the Number 1 smartphone OS in America with a 48.6 per cent market share, according to new figures from ComScore.
Over the three months ending January 2012, Google’s hold over American mobile owners strengthened by 2.3 per cent. Apple’s iOS also increased its market share to 29.5 per cent from 28.1 per cent in October last year.
Elsewhere, RIM and Microsoft are continuing to flounder under stiff competition. The number of BlackBerry OS users fell by two per cent to 15.2 percent, while Windows Phone owners dropped off by one per cent to a market share of just 4.4 per cent.
