A giant egg-thieving claw, a wormhole in space, alien pigs and some pretty damn furious birds with fortuitous super powers – yep, the number one mobile game has gone interstellar and stands ready to ruffle feathers at the top of the app chart tree.
Gravity? Pah! The tediously predictable ground-hugging Newton’s-noggin hitter of the original Angry Birds is out the physics window in this gloriously silly sequel! Here in the vacuum of space we get to play with zero-gravity instead, making the act of catapulting our titular stars at the light-trottered evil space pigs even more of a joy.
Across 60 levels you can directly batter down the defences in an all-out avian blitz or solve the more complex puzzles by trick-shotting your way to victory, cunningly using the gravitation pull of planets to curve your flight towards the target.
Hidden bonus levels abound on the way and, without wishing to give too much away, there are all-new birds with some particularly satisfying destructive talents available too.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Easily as fun as – if not more than – the original, gameplay is smooth, graphics excellently detailed and sound effects gloriously childish. I can honestly say that this is the best game for catapulting birds at green pigs in space I’ve ever played, it’s as addictive as crack(ed eggs) and a triumphant return from Rovio who, after mere minutes of playing this, I confidently predict will be back home to roost at the top of the app charts soon.
