Google's flagship Nexus 5 device which is built by LG has taken the top position in AnTuTu's list of the most popular Android phone in the Indian market. The results are in keeping with data from the first quarter of the year 2014.
While the Nexus 5 took the top spot, Motorola's mid-range Moto G came in second, followed by Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 phablet. The Korean manufacturer's Galaxy S4, Note 2 and Galaxy S3 also featured among the top ten most popular smartphones in India, a given considering Samsung's market leadership in the country.
AnTuTu also released lists of the most popular smartphones in various countries as well as globally. The Chinese Xiaomi MI 3 has taken the top spot as the most popular smartphone globally, but AnTuTu clarifies that most of its data comes from China, which is why the phone ranks as No. 1.
Until recently the Galaxy S4 was the company's flagship device, and as various sources have suggested, it wasn't as big a success as the company would have liked it to be. Despite now being two generations old, the Galaxy S3 took the spot as the second most popular smartphone globally in the first quarter of 2014.
According to AnTuTu, Chinese manufacturers should being selling their devices outside of the country, as the number of smartphone manufacturers in China is growing. It also added for heavyweights like Sony and HTC need to transform to stay relevant among buyers in the future.
