AOL has just updated the official iOS app of its MapQuest mapping service with Urgent.ly integration. As a result, roadside assistance can now be requested right from the app, no auto club membership required.
A feature that truly sets it apart from Apple and Googles more popular mapping apps, MapQuests built-in integration with Urgent.ly allows users across the U.S. to easily access emergency roadside help. As noted by AOL:
Its the first time people inneedoftow, tire change, fuel delivery, jump start or lock out servicescan contact nearby and available roadside help through Urgent.lys on-demand platform and extensive, nationwide roadside assistance network without the inconveniences and inefficiencies of traditional memberships or clubs.
To ask for help from Urgent.ly directly from MapQuest, just tap the Roadside Assistance option in the app and enter your vehicle information and a description of your roadside problem. Urgent.ly, via MapQuest, then sends a nearby service provider to your location.
Once the roadside assistance is carried out, you are charged via credit card only for the services provided.
