Previously just the stuff of fantasy for action-RPG fanatics, it’s time to brace for battle as inter-species slaughter-fest SoulCraft lands on Android…
For those who consider themselves too cool for RPG school, SoulCraft is what you get when people just can’t get along. As humans stand on the cusp of achieving immortality, angels and demons in a fit of toe-treading rage team up and form a pact to stop us by, basically, bringing the apocalypse and giving us a damn good thrashing. You get to play as human, angel or demon and determine who wins. Although, frankly, you’d be a bit of a traitor if you sided with the latter two and certainly not welcome at what remains of the local.
Heaven/Hell on Earth
Working your way through some familiar locations – Venice is lovely for an apocalypse this time of year – it’s a simple matter of killing anything that looks at you to gain more experience and powers, customising your weapons, armour and magical skills as you go and, essentially, settling the eternal ‘who’s the daddy?’ question once and for all.
Originally developed solely for the Tegra 3 processor, the arrival of the 100,000-download-strong game on Android means big things for the future of smartphone gaming and, some might say, possibly kicks the concept of portable gaming consoles to the kerb. Available in two, open beta, free-to-play, formats, SoulCraft is aimed at those packing an older Android flavour, whilst SoulCraft THD hits those with the latest Android device square in the face with a flaming double-bladed battle axe of action and stunning graphics.
