Chasing Yello is a fast paced endless game with a neat set-up that provides swipes to jump and dive over obstacles while titling to steer through endless waters. It’s a follow up to Saving Yello, and you get to play as Yello trying to endlessly swim to escape from his owner Mathilda, who put Yello through so much in Saving Yello. Now, there’s a follow-up to Chasing Yello in the form of Chasing Yello Friends, which offers a multiplayer twist on the endless swimming style. Now, you can race friends while diving below burning logs, jumping over rocks, and maneuvering to collect stars. Also, instead of an endless swim, there’s a finish line at 600 meters for a quick race with friends.
The game supports multiple players in one race, and you can connect with random players or Facebook friends, though Game Center friends are omitted. The races are therefore usually less personal as I know my Game Center friends have iOS devices, but that’s not the case for most of my Facebook friends. One you start a race, there are two objectives at work as it’s a race to the most points, and not necessarily first to the finish line. The person who finishes first gets a bonus, but your overall score wins the race, which makes the collectible stars awfully important. It’s quick pick up and play multiplayer fun that anyone can enjoy. At launch, there are some connectivity issues so that you don’t race in true real time, and therefore can’t see your opponents true progress on screen.
Chasing Yello Friends (Free, Universal) is a fast, fun, and free way to play with friends, and the mechanic is so well fitted for online multiplayer.
