Going to the movies is an enjoyable pastime, and there are plenty of apps to help you find showtimes, whether it’s Apple’s iTunes Movie Trailers, Movies by Flixster, Fandango, and more. Cinest is a new app for finding showtimes that is high on style, and ease of use. The app launches with a scene that offers an image from your current location followed by a list of moving playing in the area. Each city has its own unique color scheme applied to everything on screen, and that color scheme stays consistent, until you change the city.
You simply tap on any of the movies listed, and then you’re taken to the movie details page with a scrollable list of showtimes with quick links to buy tickets, or get directions to the theater. The page also includes the trailer, movie synopsis, cast & crew, IMDb page, and ability to share. The app is all about minimalism, as there’s really just two pages included in the app, and you just swipe down from the movie details page to go back to the movie listings. The entire experience is extremely smooth, and the app does a good job of highlighting movie showtimes above all else. There are some considerable load times occasionally, and the app only supports today, and tomorrow movie listings. Also, the main listing page doesn’t show the theater, or if it’s a 3D movie, so you can only find out by tapping for more details.
Cinest (Free, iPhone) is a great way to find out what’s playing near you, and it’s a well designed app experience to interact with.
