FreeThe iPhone 6 offers up an all new form factor with the 4.7” screen, curved back, and thinner profile. Obviously new cases are required, and so are new apps if they use innovative techniques regarding the iPhone hardware. Case and point, is Cycloramic which launched with the iPhone 5 to provide handsfree panorama, and video capturing. The app uses the vibrator, and the flat bottom of the iPhone 5 to spin the device 360 degrees all by itself, while shooting. The iPhone 6 requires an all new way to work since it doesn’t have the flat edge to spin on.
The creator of Cycloramic has a solution, and now there’s Cycloramic for iPhone 6, which in part is helped by the success spawned by the Shark Tank appearance. The iPhone 6 version relies on the power adapter that comes in the box allowing you to simply set the iPhone 6 in landscape between the two prongs of the charger. The app still activates the vibrator, and needs a relatively smooth surface to work. With that, it still feels like magic as your iPhone 6 spins around by itself. Cycloramic also includes guided panoramas to use with your hands, and there are also editing features. One nice addition is that the app takes advantage of the iPhone 6 camera to adjust the focus, and lighting as it spins.
Cycloramic for iPhone 6 ($1.99 -> Free, iPhone) is a neat utility, that is also useful at the same time while showing great innovation. It’s free for a limited time, and it’s worth noting it only works with the iPhone 6, not the 6 Plus.
