FreeThere’s a big wide world around us filled with interesting places. Findery is a new app attempting to help you discover those places by letting users share interesting places around them. Anyone who uses Findery can create a note of an interesting place they know of with support for text, photos, and tags attached to locations. There’s also aggregated lists of interesting places under particular topics. All of it combines to give you surprising tidbits about locations near you that you might not have known about. This can help you discover places simply nearby, or when traveling.
There’s a minimalistic design that provides multiple ways to sort all of the location notes beginning with a visual list of aggregated location notes. The list view can be sorted based on current location, or for search topics of note type, or location. You can also simply view the map to see any notes indicated by small circles for each address. Findery will continue to get better as people use it, with more users submitting notes about interesting places. It’s kind of like the Google Field Trip app, but with crowd sourced information. There’s already a quality base included, and each location has a personal page displaying the photo, and description. You can also follow any aggregated list to be updated when new notes are added. It’s also worth noting that location notes can be public, or private. The app was also recently updated for iOS 8 allowing you to create new entries through the share sheet in other apps, like Photos.
Findery (Free, iPhone) is a great way to discover the world around you with crowd sourced suggestions.
