Most calendar apps are all relatively the same with the familiar monthly layout, and event list. That’s not the case with Flashback, which is designed to be a sci-fi themed calendar with futuristic touches to really make it stand out. The main screen is reminiscent of other calendar apps, but the biggest difference is that the main screen is infused with a neon grid style that has an essence of Tron. It’s easy to spot events on any day of the month, and you can also swipe to move between months with a 3D cube spin effect.
Adding a new event is extremely easy, as you simply tap on a given day, and then drag from the timeline on the left side of the screen. Since, you’re dragging from the timeline, the event is created right in line with the time already inserted. The entire app is about slick design infused with intuitive touch gestures to make for a relatively minimalistic calendar experience. You’re really just given a new way to view your events without all of the clutter of a boatload of features. The visual flourishes are the definite stand out, and that includes rotating numbers in the background, a bit like The Matrix. There are also numerous animations as you move between windows to create a continuous flow in the app.
Flashback ($2.99 -> Free, iPhone) is currently on sale for free to give you a new alternative to breath a little life into your current dull calendar.
