E-mail used to be the main way to digitally communicate, but it seems to have fallen by the way side with all of the various messaging services. Hop is a new iOS e-mail client that is attempting to infuse the features of text and IM with the relatively archaic e-mail platform. The first thing Hop focuses on is speed, so that it can truly appeal to the instant messaging expectations we have these days. Next up, it changes the boring text based list into a chat based conversation window with contact pictures, and chat bubbles from e-mail chains. It’s a whole new way to look at your inbox, and that’s just half the story.
Another major aspect of Hop is quick communications that turn the reply field into a messaging interface allowing you to quickly type in a response, as well as add in photos, videos, web images, voice memos, or doodles with at the ready buttons. If that wasn’t enough, there are Triage options to help clean up your inbox with just a swipe across a message. One of the neatest features is that you can perform real time chat, and audio calls with other Hop users to take e-mail to an all new level. All of it combines to be a brand new e-mail service that is highlighted by the main e-mail window that resembles a chat box.
