There are numerous choices for weather apps, but there’s always room for more choices. Nice Weather 2 is a new addition to the App Store that offers an appealing feature set. First off, the app is free, and second it’s a deluxe, yet minimalistic weather offering. The main screen offers a color heat map style gradient based on the temperature. The top of the screen provides weather details, while the bottom shows a scrollable line graph of the temperature change throughout the day. You can drag your finger across the line to see the specific temperature forecast at particular times. There’s also the ability to simply glance at the line to see the range of peaks and valleys for the temperature changes.
There’s a five day forecast, and there’s the 24 hour line graph forecast for all five days. In addition to temperature, you can also view weather conditions icon, humidity, wind speed, and wind direction. The line graph also shows a white fill in for times when there’s a chance of rain. Everything is designed with simplicity in mind allowing you to open the app for a few seconds, and get a complete understanding of the weather for the day, and the next five. There are weather apps that offer live doppler radars, multiple layers of weather statistics, and sever weather alerts. Nice Weather isn’t one of those, but it can still be valuable in its own right depending on what you’re looking for. Again, it’s free for your current location with a pro upgrade in-app purchase to view multiple cities.
Nice Weather 2 (Free, iPhone) has a specific goal that it nails to provide at a glance weather conditions in a well designed package, all for free.
