FreePong is the definitive arcade classic allowing two players to go head to head bouncing a ball back and forth across the screen. Pong is made to be played together, but if you don’t have anyone else to play with, you could always try One Player Pong. The game just launched today, and takes the arcade classic, and reinvents it to be played solo on iOS devices. Rather than a back and forth set-up, One Player Pong presents you with a circular play area. Your goal is to rotate your paddle 360 degrees around the circular arena to keep the ball in the arena.
One Player Pong is as simple as the original, just with a new form factor. There’s an endless high score challenge as you try to keep the ball from flying off screen for as long as possible. You get a point for each time the ball bounces off the paddle, and the speed continues to increase. There’s a dial at the bottom of the screen to spin the paddle into position, and the paddle has three angles to fit the curve of the arena. You want to bounce the ball at the center of the paddle, so the ball ricochets off in the opposite direction in a straight line to give you as much time as possible. If the ball hits the angles, it will require you to be much quicker, as the ricochet heads diagonally into danger. You can rack up some quick points by adeptly bouncing the ball off the angled portion of the paddle, and quickly spinning the paddle to have the ball skirt around the outside, and hitting the paddle many more times.
One Player Pong (Free, Universal) is a great idea that is well executed for new age, old school arcade action. Also, enjoy the trailer below with a great song that we wish was included in the game.
