3D Retro Flip Clock: Full of features and free on Google Play
One of Android’s biggest selling points is customization. Users tend to choose this platform for the freedom to mold their devices 100% to their personal liking, making an experience completely unique to them. 3D Retro Flip Clock, from Kuse.iT Application Development, is a clock application that looks to give users a helping hand when it comes to displaying the time and date on their device in stylish way.
The app comes with all the familiar Android 4.0+ clock features, like lockscreen widgets and snooze alert, resizable widgets, Daydream, screensaver, and DashClock support. Also included are a number of expected features, like alarms, stopwatch, world clock, reminders, notifications — and let’s not forget the visual stimulation here — animations, and HD graphics.
In total, there are 11 different pre-defined themes to choose from. The developer promises that more skins, graphics and flip animations are coming soon however, so even if you don’t find something you like now, you may want to keep an eye on 3D Retro Flip Clock for any updates that roll down the pipeline. The only thing I’d like to request is more options that display both the time and the date, as that’s my personal preference for homescreen clock widgets — I’m picky. And that’s okay because I’m an Android user (and damn proud of it).
Here’s a look at all the different themes that are included out of the box:
As you can see, there’s a nice selection already available.
What I love about this app:
Fancy animation — I’m a sucker for the effect displayed when you tap on the widget from your homescreen. The time displays incorrectly for a second (this is intentional) and then it “flips” through a bunch of numbers before landing on the correct time. The entire animation lasts a little over a second, and you can always turn it off via the app’s settings if you don’t care for it.
Changelog readily available — You can find out what has changed from one build to the next by checking the settings menu and clicking on Changelog. This might not be important to everyone, but I appreciate it because it’s always nice to know exactly what the developer has done since their last update.
Night Mode — I own a dock for my Samsung Galaxy S III, which I keep on my bedside dresser. I use my phone as an alarm clock, so night mode is a nice option to automatically dim the display when I dock my phone.
Non-intrusive donation system – There’s no BS here, folks. No ads, no popups, and no spammy AirPush ads in your notifications tray. 3D Retro Flip clock is absolutely free, but if you would like to donate to the developer for his hard work, you can do so by simply clicking the Donation tab in the settings menu and buying him a beer, PayPal style.
What I’d like to see changed:
Typically, this is where I rant about something an app does (or doesn’t do) that irks me. That’s not the case with this app, unless you count my greediness in wanting more themes to choose from. I know I’m hard to please, so I won’t be taking any points off of my rating. Definitely not the fault of the developer.
Still not sold? Feast your eyes on some more screenshots!

By now, I’m sure you’re ready to give this app a try and quit reading my banter. If this is the case, you’ll need a device running Android 4.0 or greater, and a Google Play Store account — if you don’t already have one of these, you’re doing it wrong. The app is 23MB in size, and you can grab it for free at the link below.
