Released a couple of weeks ago, Split! is an entertaining new iOS game with a somewhat simple presentation. I mean, although it’s optimized for the Retina display, it looks just fine on the non-retina display of previous iPads and iPhones, as well as the current iPod touch.
Split! is also interestingly unique even if you’re not fond of playing tactical strategy mixed with puzzle action games, as that’s what Split! is all about.
What is it?
As mentioned, Split! combines the elements of a tactical strategy and puzzle action games. The game’s main protagonists are two guys trying to escape from several rooms inside a prison. This would have been easier to do if not for the fact that the location is a high security prison.
Hence, it’s not going to be a walk in the park for our two main characters, Red and Blue, who are represented in the game as ball-like characters. Red and Blue must get past armed guards who will continously fire at them the moment they see the two heroes. Luckily, the game rooms have several blocks that will provide cover from harm. To get past the guards, you must sporadically fire at the enemy guards until no one is left. Then you can proceed to the next level.
How does it work?
The game is purely touch gesture-controlled, so all you need to do is to move your characters into firing position to eliminate the guards. There’s no limit to the area which your characters can cover; as long as you can keep them alive until the enemies are eliminated, then you’re good to go.
Is it contagious?
Again, Split! is that kind of game which at first will be not too easy to enjoy, but once you get the hang of it you’ll realize it’s fun and entertaining. In fact, it’s entertaining to the point that you could get addicted to it.
If you’re looking for a different kind of iOS game, give Split! a chance.
