I’ve lost count of the number of camera apps I have installed on my iPhone and Galaxy Note. I use these two phones alternatively whenever I’m out and want to snap anything that fancies my curiousity. Of the many camera apps I’ve installed on my phones, only a few remain in use while most have been simply forgotten.
But this doesn’t stop me from trying new camera apps. In fact, I just got a new one called Wood Camera. It may seem like your ordinary iPhone camera app—filters here and there, photo editing functionality, social sharing—but as you use the app, you’ll discover there is something more to it than that.
What is it?
Wood Camera lets you take photos quickly and apply various filters to add spike into their final appearance before you share them with your friends and networks via various social networking apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr or Instagram. Of course, you can also save the photos to your iPhone’s camera roll.
How does it work?
Wood Camera works just like your ordinary iPhone camera app; take a photo, apply filters, tilt-shift or vignettes, then share photo. If you want to view all the photos you’ve edited or will edit, the app has a lightbox feature to do so. When you’ve selected a photo to edit, you simply double tap it and you’ll be brought to the app’s editing mode. A single tap will display the photo in full-size preview mode.
Having fun so far? Wait till you’ve tried applying tilt-shift and vignette effects. A simple pinch gesture is needed to customize tilt-shift radius or adjust the position of vignettes.
One noteable feature of the app is the live lens. Yes, unlike Instagram, the app lets you apply filters before you take a shot; you can already see the effects in real time. If you’re not satisfied with the effect you’ve chosen, you can bring up the photo and apply another filter from the app’s selection of 22 total filters. In addition to these, you can also apply any of the 17 textures and 12 frames that the app has available.
Is it addictive?
As I said, I’m an iPhone camera freak. I love trying out the different camera apps for iPhone, and Wood Camera is one the best in terms of features and ease of use. This app definitely deserves a space in your iPhone, so give it a shot. I’m sure you will like it, and it could perhaps become your primary iPhone camera app.
And yes, the fact that it integrates with Instagram makes it even cooler.
