Apple sells 925 iPhone 4S units every 60 seconds, along with 81 iPads
What can you accomplish in one minute? A small handful of push-ups? Fire off a text message or two? I'll tell you what Apple can do in 60 seconds - sell 925 iPhone 4S handsets and 81 iPad tablets. Impressed yet? It probably takes longer to sync those iOS devices over iTunes or iCloud.
When you see companies spouting off sales monthly or quarterly sales figures, it's more mind-boggling to divide that up by smaller chunks of time. Did your company sell about two million gadgets in a month? That's about 46 per minute.
Here are other toys and gizmos and bits of information that move in large numbers every minute:
18 Amazon's Kindle Fire are sold worldwide
103 Blackberries are sold worldwide
1,820 TB of data is created; that’s enough data to fill up 2.6 million CDs
$75,000 is added to Google's revenue
38 tons E-waste is generated worldwide
That last figure is sobering. 38 tons of electronic waste every minute! Not that this is news, but the rate at which we're putting out e-waste isn't very sustainable. How much longer do you think we can handle this?
