Apple is set to start selling the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in India, one of the emerging markets it’s heavily invested in, on Friday next week, Oct. 17.
According to NDTV Gadgets (via iMore), the launch date has been confirmed via email by the company’s Indian division. Apple has also announced that customers can preorder the new iPhones starting tomorrow, Oct. 7.
Apple is yet to publicize the pricing scheme for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in India. But NDTV Gadgets claims that the 4.7-inch model will be available starting at 53,500 ($868) and the 5.5-inch version at 62,500 ($1,014).
Announced last Sept. 9, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus were officially released in the U.S., the U.K., and a number of other countries on Sept. 19. During their first weekend of availability, the new devices topped 10 million units sold.
The new iPhones were launched in a second wave of countries on Sept. 26.
A week ago, Apple announced that it would be releasing the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in China, its biggest market, on Oct. 17 which turns out to be the same launch date for India.
The date is also scheduled a day ahead of Apple’s rumored media event for at least the new iPads and OS X Yosemite on Oct. 16.
