Apple has had some fairly interesting storefront displays at its retail locations for the iPhone, iPad and Mac in the past, but this latest setup all but tops the cake. At the iconic Apple Store on Regent Street in London, the Cupertino-based company has featured a row of iPads on display with colorful Smart Covers that automatically open and close.
The video does not depict how the Smart Covers are able to move on their own, although it is likely that magnets underneath the shelf are a contributing factor. Anyone that has a Smart Cover of their own should know that the accessory is not actually able to open and close by itself, but that hasn’t stopped some customers from inquiring about it at Apple Stores.
If anything, this interesting storefront display could grab the attention of those passing by and increase the already high level of foot traffic in Apple Stores. That would be a good thing for Apple, which has faced consecutive quarters of declining iPad sales and could surely benefit from any additional exposure that this storefront display could generate for the iPad.
