Today’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch apps for free daily include a PDF viewer & annotator, file manager, slick music app, and 3D physics puzzle game. PDF Box, File Hub, and SmartPlayer have all just been updated for iOS 7. A number of apps drop from paid to free on a daily basis*, and we pick the top four everyday, as many of the others aren’t worth your time even for free. Everyday we try to pick apps that are worth spending money on, but are now free to download, and here they are.
*Price drops are temporary, and usually last for just 24 hours, so be quick to download.
PDF Box ($2.99 -> Free, Universal): A PDF reader , and annotator that offers a clean interface in line with iOS 7. There are organization tools, color coded tags, the ability to open large files, multiple mark-up options, and the ability to extract text from PDFs. It’s a feature rich app to completely handle PDFs on your iOS device.
File Hub ($1.99 -> Free, Universal): A powerful file manager for iOS that lets you view, read, and play multiple file formats synced from either computer, or the cloud. The app supports over 40 file types, while syncing to multiple services. There’s a built-in text editor, voice recorder, PDF reader, photo viewer, audio & video player, and all of it has been updated for iOS 7.
SmartPlayer ($0.99 -> Free, iPhone): A very slick and seamless music player that focuses on aesthetics, and ease of use. There is a clear interface with intuitive gestures to control music playback. The app also highlights music art, while reducing on screen clutter of controls.
Fish Heroes ($0.99 -> Free, Universal) [Review]: A 3D tower destruction game similar to Catapult King, and in a style very reminiscent of Boom Blox for the Wii. You can spin the camera 360 degrees around the 3D tower to find just the right angle to aim at, and the most glaring weakness of the shark block tower. Once you find your shot, you simply pull back and let the fish fly right into the tower to try to knock down all of the sharks. As you advance, there are seven different fish types to unlock, and 100 different levels across four undersea environments with ever increasing tower complexity and fish variety.
