Taiwanese manufacturer ASUS has mentioned that the company will launch a new selfie centric ZenFone handset in the third quarter of the year. The company’s CFO, David Chang has mentioned that the announcement was initially expected to take place during the CES in January, but the company didn’t go through with the announcement and thinks that sometime around Q3 will be the ideal time to launch the device.
He didn’t provide specifics on the smartphone, but it’s not hard to predict its feature set given what we’ve seen on selfie phones over the past few months. The company also launched ZenFlash and the LolliFlash which are add-ons for your devices to light up a dimly lit room while taking photos.
The ZenFlash is a Xenon flash and connects through the micro USB port using a USB OTG (on-the-go) cable while the LolliFlash is a simple dual LED flash which goes inside the headphone slot. The odd naming is based on the fact that it comes in varying colors.
The company has also expanded its sales estimates for 2015 to 25 million smartphone units, considering the sort of demand it is seeing for the two ZenFone devices that were shown off in January.
