The ASUS Padfone series is well known to us even though its reach is very limited and mostly within Asia. However, the CEO of ASUS has provided us with some good news regarding American availability of the Padfone series. According to him, Americans can expect to see the lineup of Padfone devices in local stores by Q2 2014.
The company will reportedly join hands with an unnamed operator in the U.S. and that’s pretty much all we know for now. The company wants to land the Padfone in the American markets first, followed by the EU. CEO Jerry Shen said the following in a statement – “Once this product is launched [in the US], we will definitely have no problem tackling Europe with the same product, because this U.S. operator is very big.”
Earlier today, ASUS unveiled the Padfone Mini in Asian markets, so this could be the first among the Padfone devices to launch in the U.S. For those unaware of the Padfone, it is a combination of a tablet and a smartphone with the handset capable of docking behind the tablet.
