ASUS has just scheduled an event in New York City, with the launch of the ZenFone 2 smartphone said to be on the agenda. As of now, the ZenFone 2 is only available in select markets of Asia. So its arrival in the U.S. will certainly bolster its sales to some extent.
We expect ASUS to partner with all the major carriers of the country to bring the smartphone to the region. We’ve traditionally not seen ASUS smartphones flocking their way into the U.S., but that seems to be changing now, which is a very good sign.
It is also likely that ASUS will only partner with retail chains in the U.S to sell the devices unlocked, which could speed up the launch process in the region. ASUS reportedly plans to launch a variant which would only cost $199.99, which will be interesting to see.
As we all know, the ZenFone 2 is one of the few phones in the market today which has 4GB of RAM by default. Most flagships we see around us max out at 3GB, so it’s certainly going to grab some eyeballs in the U.S. The ZenFone 2 models also have 5.5 inch displays on board, 13-megapixel cameras and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
