ASUS has been teasing their ZenFone 3 devices for quite some time now. The company has released a number of teasers over the last couple of weeks, and they’ve also scheduled a press conference for May 30th, while suggesting the ZenFone 3 devices will be unveiled during it. It turns out our suspicions were spot on considering the company has just unveiled three new ZenFone 3 smartphones during their ‘Zenvolution’ press conference at Computex 2016 in Taipei, so if you’d like to know more, read on.
ASUS has announced the metal-clad ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Ultra handsets. The ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 3 Ultra are both powered by a mid-range SoC, and are the company’s newest upper mid-range smartphone and phablet offerings. The ZenFone 3 Deluxe, on the other hand, is the company’s all-new flagship. Let’s kick things off by talking about the ZenFone 3, shall we. This smartphone sports 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) IPS+ LCD display, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The ZenFone 3 is fueled by the Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor running at 1.4GHz, along with the Adreno 506 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel ASUS PixelMaster 3.0 camera (Sony’s IMX298 sensor) is placed on the back of this phone, and an 8-megapixel shooter can be found up front. The 3,000mAh battery comes with the ASUS ZenFone 3, and it is not removable. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the back of the ZenFone 3, and you can set it up to recognize up to 5 fingerprints. The ZenFone 3 will be available in Shimmer Gold, Aqua Blue, Sapphire Black and Moonlight White color variants.
The ZenFone 3 Ultra is the company’s all-new phablet. This device comes with a 6.8-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. The ZenFone 3 Ultra is fueled by the Snapdragon 652 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Adreno 510 GPU for graphics. On the back of the ZenFone 3 Ultra, you’ll be able to find the device’s main camera, a 23-megapixel ASUS PixelMaster 3.0 camera (Sony’s IMX318 sensor), while the 8-megapixel snapper is located up front, just like on the regular ZenFone 3 model. The ZenFone 3 Ultra sports a rather large 4,600mAh battery which comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging. Unlike the ZenFone 3, and the ZenFone 3 Deluxe we’ll talk about shortly, the ZenFone 3 Ultra sports a front-facing fingerprint scanner in a form of a physical home key which is placed below the display. This phablet will ship in Titanium Gray, Glacier Silver and Rose Pink color options.
The ZenFone 3 Deluxe is the most powerful ZenFone 3 device ASUS has introduced today. This handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, the most powerful SoC Qualcomm has to offer at the moment. The phone features a 5.7-inch FullHD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED panel, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage (UFS 2.0). The 23-megapixel ASUS PixelMaster 3.0 camera (Sony’s IMX318 sensor) can be found on the back of this phone, and the 8-megapixel shooter can be found up front. This phone is also equipped with the 3,000mAh battery which you’ll be able to recharge quickly thanks to Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It is also worth mentioning that all three devices are HRA (Hi-Res Audio) certified, and ASUS says that they offer 4x CD quality. ASUS will sell the ZenFone 3 Deluxe model in Titanium Gray, Glacier Silver and Sand Gold color variants.
All three of these devices ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and ASUS’ ZenUI 3.0 is installed on top of Google’s OS. There you have it, these are ASUS’ newest handsets. We still don’t have any information when it comes to pricing and release date, but as soon as ASUS releases more info, we’ll make sure to let you know, as usual.
