Asus has launched their ZenFone 2 line of devices during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas back in January. The ZenFone 2 line actually counts 4 different devices and the most notable one amongst them is the 4GB variant. This is actually the first smartphone to sport 4GB of RAM. The ZenFone 2 devices have been available in Taiwan and China since March and they have arrived to India now as well. This Taiwan-based company has held an event in India in order to introduce their new devices to the Indian consumers, let’s see what the company had to say.
The company has launched both the ZE550ML and ZE551ML variants of the device in India. Let’s start with the ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML) shall we. This handset features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 64GB). This handset is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3560 quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz which ships with a PowerVR G6430 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel snapper is located on the back of this device (f/2.0 aperture, 5-element lens, Real Tone flash), while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper available up front (f/2.0 aperture). This is a dual-SIM handset and it offers 4G LTE connectivity support. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here and the handset ships with a 3,000mAh battery on the inside.
The ZenFone (ZE551ML) actually also comes in two versions, the 2GB and 4GB version. Unlike the Ze550ML, these handsets actually sport a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display. The 2GB variant of the phone is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3560 quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, while the 4GB model ships with Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz. Both of these processors also come with a PowerVR G6430 GPU for graphics rendering. The 2GB model comes with 16GB of internal storage, and the 4GB model will be available in both 32 and 64GB options. The rest of the specifications are identical to the ZE550ML model. 13 and 5-megapixel snappers are available here, and same can be said about dual-SIM and 4G LTE connectivity. The 3,000mAh battery also comes built-in here and the devices will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed with Asus’ ZenUI on top of Google’s OS.
The Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML) comes in various color options and is priced at Rs. 12,999, while the 2GB variant of ZE550ML ZenFone 2 unit costs Rs. 14,999. The 4GB variant of the ZenFone 2 costs Rs. 19,999 and Rs. 22,999 for 32GB and 64GB variants, respectively.
