The Taiwan-based site Sogi.com reported it discovered a reference to the Asus ZenFone 4 somewhere on the company’s database. It says that listing didn’t reveal much about the phone’s hardware specs, other than it will have a 5.5-inch display and an unnamed Qualcomm processor with 4G support. The code name for the phone is ZC553KL. Earlier, but unconfirmed, rumors, have claimed Asus will officially reveal its ZenFone 4 family of devices sometime later in May.
The same story also mentions that it spotted two unnamed ZenFone AR devices in the database as well, with the code names V570KL and ZS571ML. The company announced its first ZenFone AR device back at CES 2017, which will include support for Google’s Tango augmented reality camera technology, along with its Daydream View VR headset. So far, the company has yet to announce a release date or a price tag for the ZenFone AR.
Asus is reportedly planning to ship as many as 20 million smartphones in 2017, and it will be interesting to see if the company can hit those targets, considering that it has a ton of competition in this space.
