Without question one of the most iconic smartphones both in technology and design was and still is the Lumia 1020 by Nokia. So when Asus revealed their latest ZenFone Zoom yesterday more than a few fan-boys got their panties in a bit of a twist unnecessarily. The Asus ZenFone Zoom looks remarkably like a Lumia 1020 on its back with that large round distinctive camera housing.
It is not for show either, the ZenFone Zoom is packing some impressive optics with a 13MP, f/2.7- to 4.8-aperture, 10-element lenses with 3X optical zoom, optical image stabilization (OIS), laser auto-focus and dual-color Real Tone flash. In addition to this it also has a Low Light mode / Backlight (HDR) mode / Enhanced Beautification mode / Manual mode / Zero shutter lag too boot. Asus were very cautious about this device and the one shown is by no means the finished article either so some things may change.
Thankfully the ZenFone Zoom will not be under powered and will be running Android Lollipop 5.0 but no word yet on processor. It is due to retail at around $399 and is due out in Q2, i';; be lining up for this one.
Editor Note: “I am a big Lumia 1020 fanboy and I still want this phone”
