Asus has announced a number of ZenFone-branded devices last year, and the ZenFone Zoom was one of the first ones they’ve announced. That being said, the ZenFone Zoom wasn’t actually released before the end of last year, which is quite interesting. Anyhow, this smartphone offers a really solid set of specs, and interesting camera functionality, while it is currently available for purchase in the US and India. The device became available in India quite recently, and the US availability was announced yesterday.
The ZenFone Zoom is available in the US through B&H Photo Video site for $399, and this very same store (New York-based) is shipping this handset to Canada as well. Now, the device is quite a bit more expensive for Canadian customers though, the exchange rate raises its price, while you’ll also have to pay an additional $60 CAD for shipping and customs fees. So, if you’re interested, you’re going to have to pay $625 CAD ($444) in order to get the ZenFone Zoom from B&H Photo Video. This is not exactly a huge different compared to the US price, and quite probably won’t bother most of you who are really set on getting this device, especially considering the set of specs included here.
Speaking of which, the ZenFone Zoom features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS display, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card). This smartphone is fueled by Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core SoC, and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package. The 13-megapixel OIS snapper can be found on the back of the device, and a 5-megapixel shooter is available up front. This is a dual-SIM handset, and you get 4G LTE connectivity here as well. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Asus’ ZenUI available on top of it. The phone measures 158.9 x 78.8 x 12mm, while it weighs 185 grams.
Now, the most interesting part of this smartphone is its camera, that’s for sure. The 13-megapixel shooter included on the back of ZenFone Zoom actually comes with a 3x optical zoom, not to mention that the Laser Autofocus is also available here, and same can be said for OIS. The camera comes with a f/2.7-4.8 aperture, and 28-84mm lens. That is more or less it, if you’re interested in purchasing this phone, follow the source link down below.
