A new revelation suggests that Samsung could follow up last year’s Galaxy S5 Active (SM-G870A) with a new model this year. It is said that the Galaxy S6 Active (SM-G890A) will be exclusively launched via AT&T in the U.S., much like the previous two iterations of the handset.
The revelation was made by a User Agent Profile of a device bearing the model number SM-G890A. The UAProf also suggests that the smartphone will retain the Quad HD display from the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, so we don’t think the company will compromise as far as performance and features are concerned.
Expect the design of the handset to be slightly altered though, as the smartphone requires protective coverings for the micro USB slots and the headphone jack to prevent water from seeping in. If the past couple of years are any indication, we don’t see Samsung bringing this variant to other networks in the U.S. Launch details are scarce at the moment, but some reports have pegged the device to break cover by mid-2015.
