Rogue Amoeba has launched Audio Hijack 3, the latest version of their app that lets you record from almost any audio source. Ready for OS X Mavericks and Yosemite Audio Hijack 3 has a new interface, along with session templates, the new Home window, and more.
The new interface in Audio Hijack lets you get started quickly. The new Home window is the central point for all projects. You'll find tabs for Sessions, Recordings, and Schedule. Sessions houses all of your projects, while Recordings has your audio previews for those projects. Schedule lets you create alarms for scheduled recordings.
The new Block elements let you easily bring in audio from both application and hardware sources like microphones. There are Blocks for sources, effects, recorders, and output devices that let you easily create your audio workflow.
Session templates give you a recording setup ready to go. There are templates for recording audio from an application, recording from a microphone or other input device, as well as presets for podcasts, voice chat, and system audio. The template chooser appears when you start a new project, and you can select New Blank Session to begin a project with no presets.
Audio Hijack 3 has a number of other features, such as the ability to record in multiple formats at once, simplified audio effects, full screen mode, and better accessibility. Audio Hijack has also added support for the FLAC and HE-AAC audio formats.
You can download Audio Hijack 3 as a free trial, which will degrade audio quality of your recordings after ten minutes. You can purchase the full version for $49 directly from Rogue Amoeba.
