WordPress.com parent company Automattic today announced the acquisition of BruteProtect, a plugin which protects WordPress users from malicious logins.
Going forward, Automattic says it will integrate BruteProtect’s technology directly into the Jetpack plugin. For context, Automattic’s Jetpack plugin integrates WordPress.com features into self-hosted WordPress.org installs.
BruteProtect will shut down “over the coming months,” according to a blog post written by WordPress creator Matt Mullenweg.
