Sony has launched the latest version of its Background defocus imaging app (version 1.2.6) onto the Google Play Store. The app appears to be available to Sony Xperia phones running at least Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Background defocus allows you to create a bokeh effect in your pictures, adding depth of field.
Sony says to get the best results you should focus on an object that is 15-45cm away, with a background at last 5 meters away from your subject. It can be a bit tricky to get it to work properly from our testing, but we’re hoping the latest version makes it slightly easier to get better results. You can also download the latest version of the apk from here.
