Dogs can be wonderful companions, and there are so many out there waiting for a good home. You can go buy designer dogs for thousands of dollars, or simply find a dog looking for love at a local shelter. BarkBuddy is a new app to help you find a dog to adopt, as well as help find homes for the dogs in need of one. Adopting a dog is a rewarding experience as you’re essentially saving a dog’s life, while at the same time improving yours.
The app is fashioned after the dating app Tinder, but for dogs. You’re presented with a series of photos, and you simply swipe left, or right to mark a dog as a favorite, or to skip it. You can tap on any dog to see their full profile with a description, extra photos, and contact information of the shelter the dog is at. All of your favorited dogs go to a single place to access later to bring up the contact information, and details. Once you go through a few dogs, the app starts to collect stats on your preferences, and tries to improve the dogs that you’re shown to give you more personalized recommendations. The swipe based interface is a great addition to quickly look for dogs you might be interested in.
BarkBuddy (Free, Universal) is a great utility, if you’re even remotely interested in getting a dog.
